Enzoani Partners with Girls Rising Up
In Support of Youth in Malawi
We are excited to announce Enzoani’s commitment to support young girls in Malawi through our new partnership with Girls Rising Up. Malawi is among the poorest countries in Africa. Located in East Africa, Malawi has a mostly rural population with an agriculture-based economy. Because of widespread poverty, the children of Malawi are in dire need of food, medical care, clean water, and education. While Covid-19 prevents us from visiting Malawi this year, Enzoani will be dedicating $10 for every gown sold for the month of August to support the young girls of Malawi. The girls of Malawi are both the most at-risk population and the country’s greatest hope. By helping feed, heal, and educate these girls, we aim to not only offer them a brighter future, but also to expand opportunities and development of all of Malawi. We invite all Enzoani fans, brides, and retail partners to help make the world a better place by supporting some of those who need our help the most.
Why Girls Rising Up?
Over the last two years, our CEO Mary Nguyen learned of Girls Rising Up, a program led by nonprofit organization Children of the Nations, through close friends as well as business partners who are passionate about the organization’s work and programs to support young people in impoverished communities across the globe. Through careful research, communication with the program’s leadership, and hands-on experiences working with the organization, Mary’s own passion for Girls Rising Up only grew stronger.
Why now?
As COVID-19 emerged in 2020, Mary and the team’s plans to visit and volunteer with Girls Rising Up in Malawi this year unfortunately had to be postponed. Our hope is that our contributions this month will serve as an alternative way for us to support the program, and as one step towards doing even more.
What will the contributions go towards?
Each contribution to Girls Rising Up will support both education and healthcare for children in Malawi, especially as COVID-19 has greatly affected their daily lives. “Our staff have been coming up with creative ways to help the children continue their schoolwork from home, such as supplying them with textbooks, using WhatsApp to check in with the students, and giving them radios to listen to lessons,” explains Girls Rising Up’s management team. “We have been able to distribute food to the children, ensuring that they are getting proper nutrition during this time. They are also receiving soap and buckets to set up hand washing stations at home. We are currently collecting Hygiene SmilePacks, containing supplies such as soap and toothpaste, as well as homemade masks to help the children protect themselves from the virus.”
What does Enzoani plan to do in the future?
We plan to partner regularly with various organizations, and will continue to expand our charitable efforts moving forward. Stay tuned right here for more updates and news!
