That Crazy First Date

A puppy, tacos, and margaritas are all you need for the beginning of a perfect romance! One crazy first date for a lifetime of happiness. Taylor and Caleb tie the knot in an intimate wedding at the Olde Dobbin Station down south in Texas. We love how this couple's personality shines through these photos!

First date: we met at a game night Caleb’s cousin was throwing at her house. I didn’t know a soul, but my best friend and maid of honor dragged me there with her. Thank goodness she did!

After a while, Caleb walked through the front door holding a puppy. I was immediately intrigued, but too nervous to actually have a conversation with him. After a while, we ended up bonding over our love of music. The rest is history!

Our first date was Cinco de Mayo 2017. We planned to have Mexican food and margaritas, but the restaurant was packed. We went around the corner to a quiet, quaint restaurant, then had margaritas at a pub down the street.

We walked along the waterway until Caleb realized he accidentally left his keys at the restaurant. They were closed, so I had to drive him home, about an hour from where I lived. His roommates were asleep, so he tried calling them, banging on windows and doors, going around back to check the back door, but no luck.

I then had to drive him to a friend’s house about an additional 20 minutes from his house. He was mortified. But I thought it was hilarious. It was definitely a memorable first date. Our second date was a little less hectic. We went kayaking near the same place we had our first date.

He packed drinks and created this ridiculously amazing playlist on his iPod Classic (yes, classic) with all the music he thought I would like. We sat on the dock and talked forever. To this day, we still listen to that playlist. It was awesome!

My favorite wedding day memory is probably our ceremony and speeches. We wrote our own vows and it was really special to say them in front of all the people we love most. During our ceremony, we had a prayer and communion, so that was really special to take part in as our first act as a married couple.

We really wanted our people to witness the foundation of our marriage and the reason we love so hard. It was such an amazing, heartfelt moment.

The speeches at our reception were hilarious and so sweet. My dad gave an incredible opening speech, and my two maids of honor and his two best men gave the best speeches. It’s a very cool thing to see people you’re so close to share special moments, memories, and thoughts of you and your new spouse in front of all those people. I laughed and cried the whole time!

Don’t stress the little things. In the end, you’re marrying the love of your life, and it will all be over so quickly. Enjoy every moment with each person there. RELAX. Take moments throughout the wedding day to just be present and take it all in.

Luz was the very first wedding dress I tried on. It was the last dress I grabbed from the rack to try on as I walked to the dressing room. I saw the lace (I love lace) and thought, “What the heck, I’ll try it!” I tried it on first and knew that was the dress.

When I walked out of the dressing room, everyone gasped. Their reaction was priceless. Everyone there had such different tastes, but they ALL agreed that it was definitely the dress.

I tried on others after that and went to another bridal shop, but the whole time I was just thinking about that first dress. It was nothing like the dress I always envisioned myself wearing, it was so much better.
